The Indian film industry is witnessing a noticeable shift where content-driven films are increasingly gaining momentum, while some star-driven projects struggle to make an impact. This phenomenon is not limited to Telugu cinema but is also evident in Bollywood, where even the biggest stars are facing challenges at the box office.
Addressing this trend during the promotions of his upcoming film Mirai, actor Teja Sajja offered a different perspective. Dismissing the notion that star power is on the decline, Teja firmly stated, “It is impossible to say that star power has declined at the box office. I will not agree to it. Today, all the young stars are putting in great effort, and their movies continue to create massive euphoria and excitement. You will not believe me, but an upcoming film will surprise all of us.”
When asked further, Teja revealed that he was referring to OG, a highly anticipated film that, according to him, will deliver a big surprise at the box office. Expressing his excitement, he added in Telugu, “Manam andharam OG kosam wait chestunnam kada, Tagalabadi Pothayi.”
Teja also emphasized that star power in Telugu cinema continues to play a crucial role, as stars are consistently pushing boundaries to create large-scale projects, which, in turn, generate significant employment opportunities within the industry.
Currently, Teja is busy promoting Mirai, directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni and produced by People Media Factory. The film is slated for a grand release on September 12th.
