The Osmania University , which was once a hotbed of Telangana statehood protests, is now all set for massive campaign against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led government, which would start with a garjana rally on December 5.
Announcing the “Telangana Bachao“ campaign, various student wings are coming together to question the government over raging issues such as education and employment which are in a state of limbo right from the formation of the state. OU students are demanding establishment of a Public Service Commission to announce more than one lakh jobs, which the TRS had promised earlier in its manifesto.
The Osmania University Nirudyoga Joint Action Committee would be spearheading this agitation. The body has issued calls for Telangana Nirudyogula Garjana, a meet which is similar in name and spirit to the Telangana Vidyarthi Garjana which happened on the same campus in 2009, then with TRS’s blessings. The student anger against the government policies hasn’t surprised faculty members and the political think tanks of Osmania.
