Hyderabad, March 26, 2025 – Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reaffirmed his commitment to curbing antisocial activities in Telangana. Following his decisive actions against drug trafficking and substance abuse, which resulted in a notable decrease in drug-related offenses, the Chief Minister has now turned his attention to another pressing issue—online betting and gambling platforms.
Addressing the Telangana State Assembly today, Revanth Reddy emphasized the severity of the online gambling menace and underscored his administration’s resolve to take stringent action against such platforms and their operators.
“These betting sites and applications are not to be taken lightly. We are going to crack down on these platforms and those who are behind them. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be formed, preferably comprising CBCID officials or other reputable government authorities, to lead this operation. Strict action is inevitable, and our goal is to eradicate this online betting culture from Telangana,” stated the Chief Minister.
The government’s proactive stance comes in the wake of increasing concerns over the detrimental impact of online gambling, which has not only led to financial distress among individuals but also raised ethical and legal concerns. Notably, several celebrities have already come under scrutiny for endorsing betting platforms, and authorities have taken action by booking 19 operators linked to these illicit activities.
With the Chief Minister’s firm stance and unwavering commitment, Telangana is set to witness a comprehensive crackdown on online betting. While the process may be extensive, the ultimate goal remains clear—eliminating this detrimental practice and ensuring a safer, more regulated digital environment in the state.
