The inaugural Telangana Gaddar Film Awards ceremony was held last night at Hitex, Hyderabad, in a star-studded affair that brought together political dignitaries and stalwarts of the Telugu film industry. The prestigious event recognized outstanding contributions from films censored in 2024 and honored the best feature films from 2014 to 2023, commemorating a decade since the formation of Telangana state.

Today, producer and Telangana State Film Development Corporation (FDC) Chairman Dil Raju addressed the media, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all those involved in making the awards a grand success. He acknowledged the dedicated six-month effort that went into planning the event and appreciated the industry members who turned up to receive their honors.

Dil Raju extended special thanks to Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who, despite protocol allowing just one hour, chose to stay for nearly two and a half hours—demonstrating his strong commitment to supporting cinema and the arts.

In a noteworthy appeal during the press meet, Dil Raju called on the film industry to actively support and attend government-sponsored award functions. He emphasized that when such honors are bestowed by the state, recipients should make every effort to attend in person, regardless of their shooting schedules. Citing that Andhra Pradesh is also planning to institute its own awards soon, he urged artists to treat such occasions as significant and block their calendars accordingly.

His remarks were seen as a subtle message to leading stars like Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan, whose acclaimed films were selected for the awards but who were notably absent from the ceremony.

Dil Raju’s comments underscore the importance of collaboration between the film industry and the government in celebrating cinematic excellence. He thanked FDC MD Harish and all those who contributed to the success of the event, expressing optimism that the industry will recognize and uphold this shared cultural responsibility going forward.

With the successful launch of the Gaddar Film Awards, Telangana has set a strong precedent—one that promises to strengthen the bond between government and cinema. This initiative not only honors artistic excellence but also encourages active participation from all stakeholders in shaping the future of the industry. As the journey continues, the foundation laid by the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards is expected to inspire new opportunities and deeper engagement across the regional film landscape.
