Telangana Students Started Leaving Andhra

The decision taken by Congress party regarding Telangana is not a good sign for students from the region who are studying in various Andhra cities for the sake of quality education. With AP getting divided into two states, these students are worried about the ‘local status’ in Eamcet 2014.

As per rules of EAMCET, a student could appear as local candidate such that he can gain entrances into regional engineering and medical colleges, only when he/she completes intermediate in the same state. In the wake of creation of Telangana state, students who want to claim local status in Telangana should now study intermediate only in the 10 districts of the region. Keeping this in mind, as many as 50,000 students have now started getting back to their native districts of Telangana to study their second year intermediate such that they will get ‘local status’ in Telangana state. With the presence of many qualified teachers in Vijayawada, there is a huge migration of students from T to Andhra since 2005, and now this will take a backseat.

Meanwhile Intermediate Board’s senior officials felt that there is no need to panic as bifurcation process will take more than 8-9 months and Board will plan things accordingly.
