Tense situation prevailed as an alleged group of unidentified men demolished the Telangana Thalli statue in the Dandepalli village in Adilabad district. The incident took place at Thursday midnight. Soon after the news of statue demolition broke out, a large group of TRS activists came out into the village centre and carried out their protests.
The TRS activists even resorted to Rastha Roko and disrupted traffic since this morning, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. As the situation went out of control, the police entered the scene and assured the protesting TRS activists of catching the culprits as early as possible.
With the cops’ assurance, the angry mob cooled down its temper and withdrew its protests. The Telangana Thalli statue stood as an inspiration to thousands of protesters during the separate Telangana movement until last year. The Telangana Thalli statue was installed to give the region its own identity a la Telugu Thalli statue in Andhra region.
