The Telangana government recently approved a significant ticket price hike for Pawan Kalyan’s OG, along with a premiere show scheduled a day before its official release. This has raised questions about whether the same treatment will be extended to Balakrishna’s upcoming Akhanda 2.
However, authorities have clarified that no further ticket price hikes will be allowed, as the court has already issued directives regarding pricing. This decision could spark frustration among Balakrishna’s fans in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, who believe their star also has the box-office potential to justify higher ticket prices.
The situation carries political sensitivities as well. While Pawan Kalyan’s film received preferential treatment, Balakrishna—who had already felt slighted when his name was placed ninth in an official invitation by his own state’s cinematography minister—may view this as another instance of disrespect. Such perceived favoritism could create tensions, both politically and personally.
The Telangana government now faces the challenge of addressing these concerns regarding Akhanda 2. This selective approach to ticket price hikes risks attracting criticism and discontent rather than goodwill, potentially creating more opponents than supporters for the current administration.
