Telugu Film Workers Demand 30% Pay Hike

The Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Federation has formally announced a complete halt to all film shoots under its jurisdiction, effective August 4, 2025. This decision follows weeks of ongoing negotiations with producers over a proposed 30% wage hike for industry workers.

Representing 24 categories of film personnel—including technicians, crew members, and production staff—the Federation convened an executive committee meeting in Hyderabad on August 3 to determine its next course of action. After comprehensive internal discussions and consultations with senior members and industry veterans, the Federation resolved to enforce the pay hike demand through a coordinated industry-wide pause.

Only production units that provide a written commitment agreeing to the revised wage structure will be permitted to continue shooting. Projects that do not comply must halt operations immediately and will not be recognized by the Federation.

To manage continued dialogue with producers, Buggasamudram Muralimohan and Veeramsetty have been appointed as official representatives. The Federation’s move has also received backing from prominent industry stakeholders, including Sudheer Cinema and West Indian Sound Lab, who have issued formal letters of support.

This development is expected to significantly impact numerous ongoing and upcoming Telugu film projects. As discussions continue, the Federation’s strong stance underscores growing concerns among workers regarding fair compensation. A swift resolution will be crucial to prevent widespread schedule disruptions and potential delays in film releases in the months ahead.
