It looks like Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao enjoys more credibility than his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu among the Telugu people residing in different parts of Karnataka.
Going by the just declared results of the Karnataka assembly elections, the Telugus residing in the areas bordering Telangana had voted for the Janata Dal (S), following the call given by the TRS president.KCR not only declared his support to the JD (S) openly, but also reportedly funded its candidates.
Not only that, at the request of KCR, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi also campaigned for JD (S) in several Muslim dominated areas and asked the people to defeat the Congress.
Though it is a different matter that the JD (S) is finally joining hands with the Congress to try to form the new government, it is an undeniable fact that the TRS has a hand in JD (S) victory.
On the other hand, the TDP extensively campaigned in Telugu speaking areas bordering AP and also in Bengaluru asking the people to vote against the BJP. But wherever the TDP campaigned, the BJP emerged victorious, as per the initial reports.
It does mean, the Telugu people did not believe Naidu’s theory that the BJP had done injustice to the Andhra!
