Yuvasamrat Naga Chaitanya Akkineni has delivered his career-best performance in the epic romantic drama Thandel. The actor underwent a remarkable transformation to portray a Srikakulam fisherman, dedicating over a year and a half to perfecting his role. His hard work, commitment, and gripping performance have translated into a massive success for the film. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel is produced by Bunny Vasu under the presentation of Allu Aravind.
The film opened to the highest numbers in Naga Chaitanya’s career, maintaining strong momentum throughout the weekend. On Days 2 and 3, it registered record-breaking collections among Tier-2 heroes in Telugu states. Given that February is usually a slow month for the box office, industry experts were keen to observe Thandel’s performance on its first Monday. However, the film exceeded expectations, passing the crucial Monday test with flying colors—selling 73.12K tickets on BookMyShow for the day.
So far, Thandel has grossed over ₹70 crore worldwide, and it is on track to enter the prestigious ₹100 crore club soon. This will mark Naga Chaitanya’s first film to achieve this milestone. The movie is expected to reach breakeven status in just 2-3 days. With its strong momentum, Thandel is not only set to be the biggest success in Chaitanya’s career but also a landmark February hit for Tollywood.
