Unlike in the past, overseas market has become very crucial for film-makers these days. If a big film does well both at home and abroad, then the producers are ending up with profits that are equivalent to production costs of at least two small films.
Even a small film that is classy is making more money abroad than at home.
Right now, Mani Ratnam’s Ok Bangaram is making similar money. While it made collections in lakhs in Andhra and Telangana, it has crossed Rs 2 crore in overseas.
Prior to the release, producer Dil Raju maintained that he will not sell overseas’ rights for the film. And now his strategy has worked in his favour.
Apart from the money it made in both Telugu speaking states, in overseas and satellite costs apart, Dil Raju will surely break even. This is by the end of second week.
