Instagram’s Threads app has rolled out a series of significant feature upgrades, underscoring its evolution in the competitive social media landscape. Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, shared the updates on Thursday, which include the highly anticipated ability to schedule posts and a new markup tool for reshared content.
The post-scheduling feature, now available to all users after a successful trial phase, enables users to schedule threads up to 75 days in advance. This update offers greater flexibility for content planning, allowing users to manage their scheduled posts through the drafts folder where they can view, edit, or delete posts before they go live. However, the ability to schedule replies is not currently supported.
Additionally, the new markup tool introduces an exciting way to personalize reshared posts. Users can now annotate posts with drawings, highlights, or arrows, providing a creative way to engage with and add context to shared content.
In a move aimed at improving content context, Threads will replace its existing fact-checking system with Meta’s Community Notes. This feature allows users to contribute context and notes to posts, enhancing the platform’s reliability and fostering community-driven engagement.
Threads will also begin integrating political content into its recommendation algorithm, a strategic decision reflecting Meta’s ambition to diversify the platform’s content and expand its appeal across various user interests.
With these updates, Threads continues to refine its offerings, making it a dynamic platform for both content creators and everyday users, as it seeks to maintain its competitive edge in the rapidly evolving social media space.
