Tinder Launches Double Date Feature

Tinder is shaking up the dating experience with a new social twist. The app has rolled out Double Date, a feature that lets users team up with a friend and match with other pairs—offering a more relaxed, communal way to meet new people.

Now available in the U.S. and select international markets, Double Date transforms traditional dating by allowing users to swipe, match, and chat in pairs. By shifting the focus to group interactions, Tinder aims to make dating feel less intimidating and more authentic. A global launch is expected in July.

The feature builds on earlier community-focused tools like Tinder Matchmaker and Share My Date, continuing the platform’s push toward more inclusive and organic connections.

How It Works

Activating Double Date is simple: users tap the icon in the top-right corner of the main swipe screen, select up to three friends, and begin pairing up with other duos. Once both sides of a pair express interest, a group chat opens—making it easy to plan what comes next without the usual pressure of one-on-one messaging.

A Hit Among Gen Z and Women

Early testing shows Double Date resonating strongly with younger users—nearly 90% of participants were under 29, with Gen Z and younger millennials leading the way. Tinder also reports the feature is especially popular among women, who were three times more likely to engage with duo profiles compared to solo ones.

Group chats sparked by Double Date are also more active, with users sending 35% more messages than in standard one-on-one conversations. The feature has also proven effective in attracting new and returning users—nearly 15% of people accepting Double Date invites were either first-time or reactivated users.

With Double Date, Tinder is clearly betting on shared experiences to reshape how people connect—making dating more fun, collaborative, and less daunting.
