Tollywood Bigwigs to Meet CM Chandrababu Tomorrow

The much-anticipated meeting between the Telugu film industry and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been rescheduled to tomorrow (June 15). Originally planned for June 22nd, the meeting was preponed due to the overseas travel plans of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who will be heading abroad for the shoot of his upcoming film Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The meeting is now set to take place at 4 PM in Amaravati.

Several leading actors, directors, producers, and members of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) are expected to attend. The agenda includes discussions on the development of the film industry and the various challenges it continues to face.

One of the key issues on the table will be the financial difficulties plaguing theatres and exhibitors. Many theatre owners have been advocating for a shift to a percentage-based revenue-sharing model for film releases, moving away from the existing rental-based system which has added to their financial burden.

This meeting also gains significance in light of Pawan Kalyan’s recent criticism of the industry bigwigs. A few weeks ago, he publicly expressed his disappointment over the lack of dialogue between the industry and the state government since the new government took office last year, despite its open support for the industry. He also highlighted concerns about monopolistic practices by a select few individuals within the industry, particularly regarding theatre operations. These issues are expected to be discussed in depth during tomorrow’s meeting.
