A person wants something and in many cases, he or she ends up becoming something else. Like many smitten by the film industry, Shanker too says he came into the industry to act. Apparently, he even got to do bit roles in two films, both of which flopped miserably at the box-office.
He says that’s when he decided to become a director instead. So, to begin with, he intended to make films highlighting the atrocities against women and various social problems.
But since no one gave him a chance to make such films, he was forced to changed track and make big budget commercial entertainers.
The rest as they say is history and he went on to make films such as Gentleman, Premikudu, Bharateeyudu, Jeans, Boys, Okkadu, Aparichutudu, Sivaji, Robot…. Another interesting fact about Shanker is that he became a director at the age of 28.
