In what is seen as firt defeat of TRS and first victory of Congress party after the formation of the new state of Telangana, Congress won Nalgonda MLC seat by defeating incumbent TRS. Former MP and Congress candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy won over TRS candidate Tera Chinnapa Reddy. Of all six MLC seats from four districts, results for four seats have been announced. While TRS bagged 3 seats, Congress won in 1 seat.
Elections were held for each seat in Nalgonda and Khammam districts, whereas two MLCs each are to be elected from Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar districts.
TRS candidate Balasani Lakshmi Narayana won in Khammam with 31 votes majority. TRS shown its strength in Mahaboob Nagar as well. Its candidate Kasireddy Narayana Reddy won over Damodar Reddy with a margin of 65 votes.
