The world’s richest person Elon Musk earlier showed interest in buying the leading social media platform Twitter. After Elon Musk and Twitter administration could not come to a common opinion on the bots, the deal was almost canceled. Now it is said that the deal is back on track and things are going in the right path.
Now Tesla owner Elon Musk is said to be thinking of giving a big shock to the employees working for Twitter with mass layoffs. If the reports are to be believed, Elon Musk wants to lay off as many as 75 percent of the workforce of Twitter once the Twitter deal is finished.
It is known that the court has issued a deadline for the Twitter deal and said that the deal should be finished by the 28th of October and crossing the deadline would take the deal to the court yet again.
As D-day is fast approaching, the Twitter leadership and Elon Musk are rushing things as far as the deal is concerned. During such a meeting, Elon Musk reportedly told a few investors that the layoffs might happen as many as 75 percent of employees might turn unemployed.
There are over 7,500 employees who are working for Twitter. If the layoffs come into effect then the employees would be restricted to less than 2,000 which is ringing danger bells for the employees. Since the news broke out, the employees are fearing what would happen to them next.
It is said that Elon Musk wants to bring down the workforce to reduce management costs. Elon Musk is someone who believes in making wonders with a small workforce and to implement that he is in plans to remove the employees. If reports are to be believed, Elon Musk reportedly wants to cut $800 million from the payroll.
The employees are fearing what would happen to them if the layoff reports appear true. Clearing the doubts on this, the current Twitter management reportedly told the employees that they have no information on this and also said that as of now there is no such plan to lay off the Twitter workforce.
