Model and actress Elli Avram, who came into prominence after her participation in Hindi Bigg Boss S-7, has now opened up about her casting couch experience in Bollywood. Elli acted as a lead actress in quite a few Hindi films and one of her most popular films is Kis Kis ko Pyaar Karu.
Though many actresses have come forward so far in the name of casting couch and sexism practices, Elli has now come out blaming a producer without naming him. “I met two directors at the beginning of my career and they shook my hand and scratched it with one of the fingers. Later, when I told about the incident to my friend, he was shocked and said, “Oh, no did he do that? Do you know what that means?’ I didn’t know and he told me that he wanted to sleep with me.”
Elli AvrRam who hails from Sweden has decided to try her luck in Bollywood but, she faced many bitter situations like – “I was told I needed to lose weight. They said I’m short and I was told about my forehead and my teeth. One girl from the industry told me, ‘Oh, but sweetheart you can never become an actress because you’re too short’. Some even commented that I look old like an aunty because of my long hair,” she revealed.
With just Bigg Boss and a couple of films in grip, Elli could not meet success with any of her other works. She said this is because she also faced severe sexism in the industry. “It’s been tough. I remember this very big movie where they wanted to have me and I was so excited to have that movie. Suddenly, the actor had a problem and that’s why the producer took a call and replaced me. That would have been it but it’s been hard times.”
