Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s much-delayed period action drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu continues to face release hurdles, making it arguably one of the most postponed films in the history of Telugu cinema. Despite multiple announcements over the years, the film has missed over half a dozen scheduled release dates. Most recently, it was slated to hit screens on May 9, but the release has now been deferred once again.
According to industry sources, the team has commenced a fresh schedule this week to complete Pawan Kalyan’s remaining portions. The current schedule is expected to wrap up by May 7 or 8, after which the production team will swiftly proceed with the remaining post-production work. If all goes as planned, the makers are now targeting May 30 as the potential new release date.
However, this move could trigger a clash with Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom, which has already announced its arrival on the same date. Given the tight timeline, the team behind Hari Hara Veera Mallu must make a quick and strategic decision to avoid a release conflict and to ensure sufficient time for promotions.
Releasing a big-budget film like Hari Hara Veera Mallu within a 20–25 day window poses significant challenges. Completing the dubbing, marketing, media interactions, distributor agreements, and outdoor publicity within such a short span may compromise the film’s promotional impact. Compounding the challenge is the noticeable dip in buzz surrounding the project, despite the involvement of legendary composer MM Keeravani, whose music has yet to ignite major excitement among fans and audiences.
To reignite interest, industry insiders believe the makers must release a high-impact trailer or teaser to boost expectations and regain momentum. Should a May 30 release prove unfeasible, June remains a viable alternative. The month currently has minimal competition, with big titles like Kannappa and Kubera scheduled only in the latter half.
Despite the subdued anticipation, reports suggest that Hari Hara Veera Mallu has shaped up well and is expected to meet, if not exceed, fan expectations. The performance of this first installment will be critical in determining the fate of its sequel, especially considering Pawan Kalyan’s concurrent responsibilities as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
With mounting stakes and a narrowing release window, the production team must now tread carefully and execute a well-coordinated strategy to ensure the film gets the launch it deserves.
