Actor and social media influencer Urfi Javed, who recently emerged as one of the winners of The Traitors India, has opened up about receiving death and rape threats online following her victory. The Amazon Prime Video reality show aired its finale on July 3, crowning Urfi and Nikita Luther as joint winners.
Taking to Instagram, Urfi shared an emotional post revealing the intense online abuse she has faced—not for her fashion choices, as in the past—but specifically for winning the show. “Being called names, getting death, rape threats, the online hate—but I never stopped,” she wrote. “This isn’t the first time I’ve been threatened, but this time it’s just because I won.”
Urfi also posted screenshots of disturbing messages, which included slut-shaming, violent threats, and personal attacks. The backlash appears to stem from the show’s dramatic finale twist, where host Karan Johar revealed that contestants Purav Jha and Harsh Gujral were the final traitors. This shocking revelation led to Urfi and Nikita being declared the innocent winners—leaving a section of fans upset and accusing the show of being rigged.
Many disgruntled viewers, particularly fans of the eliminated contestants, have since flooded social media with angry posts, with some crossing the line into targeted harassment. Despite the growing controversy, the show’s producers and Amazon Prime have yet to release an official statement addressing the threats.
On a more positive note, Purav Jha himself has stepped in to defuse tensions, urging fans to be respectful and avoid spreading hate. He called for calm and reminded viewers that kindness matters, even in moments of disappointment.
In a powerful gesture, Urfi donated her share of the Rs 70.5 lakh prize money to co-winner Nikita Luther. Unshaken by the threats, she declared, “The hate never stopped me before, and it won’t stop me now.”
