Urvashi Rautela’s Temple Claim Triggers Controversy

Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela has once again become the center of attention on the internet following a recent interview where she claimed that a temple has been built in her name in Uttarakhand. She further expressed hope that fans in South India would build a second temple for her. These comments quickly went viral, drawing both ridicule and criticism on social media.

In her statement, Urvashi said, “There is a temple named after me in Uttarakhand. If anyone goes to Badrinath, they should also visit my temple next door. At Delhi University, students even garlanded my photo. I was shocked when I found out, but it’s true.”

The actress, who has worked with Tollywood stars like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, and Pawan Kalyan, added that she has a strong fan base in South India and is hopeful of a temple being built for her there as well. When the interviewer jokingly asked whether people seek her blessings at the temple, Urvashi replied, “It’s a temple. Whatever happens at temples happens there too.”

These statements triggered a wave of humorous and sarcastic reactions online, with many netizens calling her delusional and using her comments to create memes.

However, the controversy deepened when a priest from Badrinath clarified that the so-called “Urvashi temple” has no connection to the actress. He explained that the temple, located near Bamni, is a sacred site believed to be associated with Hindu mythology — either the place where Lord Vishnu emerged from his thigh or a location where a part of Goddess Sati’s body fell, thus considered a Shakti Peetha.

Local priest Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal condemned Urvashi’s claims, calling them misleading and offensive. “This is not her temple. Such false statements are unacceptable. The government should take appropriate action to prevent the spread of misinformation,” he stated.
