Hyderabad city police, who are working hard to shift all beggars from the streets of the city to rehabilitation centres, ahead of US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s visit to the city to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, are receiving regular shocks.
In the latest case, the police found two women, one had worked in UK and the other has US Green Card, begging on the city streets. When the police has recently apprehended several beggars for contempt of the order banning begging for two months, two women took them by surprise, when they started arguing in fluent English.
Upon enquiry, it was uncovered that one woman is an MBA holder, and had worked as an accounts officer in London, and the other had a US green card and her son is an architect in US. Both of them have luxurious properties in the city. Police couldn’t extract the exact reason why resorted to begging as they allegedly gave some vague and unconvincing explanations.
Just recently, the city police were shocked when five beggars, who were being shifted to the rehabilitation centres had given Rs 20,000 each as their bail amount. These reports suggest that the city is filled with ‘Rich’ beggars.
