In a landmark announcement, US President Donald Trump expressed gratitude to India and its largest privately held energy company, Reliance, for supporting a historic investment to build the first new oil refinery in the United States in 50 years. The Brownsville, Texas-based refinery is part of a $300 billion initiative aimed at boosting American energy production and strengthening international partnerships.
Trump described the Brownsville refinery as a significant step toward U.S. energy independence, declaring, “America is returning to REAL ENERGY DOMINANCE.” The president emphasised that the refinery, under the America First Refining banner, would fuel domestic markets, enhance exports, and bolster national security.
Set to become the cleanest refinery in the world, the Brownsville project promises substantial economic benefits, including thousands of jobs and revitalisation for South Texas. Trump highlighted that the initiative aligns with his broader America First agenda, which focuses on streamlining permits, cutting taxes, and attracting large-scale investments.
“This project will power global exports, create thousands of jobs, and bring much-needed growth to South Texas,” Trump said, concluding, “This is what American energy dominance looks like. America First, always.”
