Bollywood beauty Vaani Kapoor, who made her Telugu debut with Aaha Kalyanam opposite Nani, has remained away from Tollywood since the film failed at the box office. Over the years, she has been frequently seen in Yash Raj Films productions, which led to speculation about her limited appearances outside the banner.
Vaani gained widespread attention for her glamorous yet impactful role in Yash Raj’s 2019 blockbuster War, starring alongside Hrithik Roshan. Her character, while stylish, carried emotional weight, and it helped her land more roles afterward. However, War 2, the highly anticipated sequel featuring Hrithik and Jr NTR, does not include her.
In a recent interaction with the Mumbai media, Vaani was asked about her absence from War 2. When questioned why she wasn’t part of the sequel despite being in the original, she responded gracefully. “I have no complaints against the makers. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of War,” she said. When asked if she had hoped to return in the sequel, Vaani dismissed the notion and instead extended her best wishes to the War 2 team, including a special mention to producer Aditya Chopra.
She also reminded the media that her character, along with Tiger Shroff’s, had died in the first film. “Both Tiger and I died in War. So why would anyone ask why we’re not in the sequel? If Tiger returns, then I’ll come back too!” she said jokingly. Vaani called such questions misplaced, emphasizing that bringing back dead characters would turn the story into pure fiction — something far-fetched for a grounded action franchise.
Even though she isn’t part of War 2, Vaani is moving ahead with her next project — a suspense thriller titled Mandala Murders, which marks her OTT debut. Meanwhile, War 2 is set to hit the screens on August 14, with Kiara Advani playing the female lead.
