Rowdy hero Vijay Deverakonda became a sensation after a success like ‘Arjun Reddy’ and continued it with hits like ‘Geetha Govindham’ and ‘Taxiwaala’. His craze as well as market grew rapidly and he was on the verge of becoming the next big thing in Tollywood. He faced two setbacks in the form of ‘World Famous Lover’ and ‘Dear Comrade’ but his craze remained intact.
He aimed at getting pan-Indian star status through ‘Liger’ and went all out for it. He got trained in mixed martial arts and went through a physical transformation for his role too. He worked on the movie for more than two years and promoted the film quite aggressively all over the nation. Unfortunately, the movie turned out to be a huge disaster and incurred losses to the buyers.
Many thought that his market would take a serious beating after this film but it looks like the hero’s craze has not gone down. His market value is still the same as the non-theatrical rights of his upcoming film ‘Khushi’ went for 90+ crores. This includes the satellite rights, digital streaming rights and audio rights in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages in which it is getting released. This shows that Vijay Deverakonda is showing no signs of slowing down.
Also, having Samantha play the female lead helped a lot in getting such big rates since she is very popular across the country. Written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, ‘Khushi’ is a romantic entertainer produced under Mythri Movie Makers banner. Reports suggest that the shooting of this film will be wrapped up in the next five weeks. Hesham Abdul Wahab is the music composer. G Murali is the cinematographer and Prawin Pudi is the editor. Vijay is expected to be seen as a racer in this romantic drama while Samantha will be seen as his senior. Let us wait and see how this movie turns out.
