Pakistani hot actress Veena Malik and her husband along with Mir Shakil ur Rahman, owner of Geo TV, Pakistan’s biggest media group was sentenced to 26 years jail term for blasphemy by an Anti Terrorism court. Court sentenced them for this severe jail term for airing a blasphemous programme in May by Geo Television.
In the programme a mock marriage was staged between Veena Malik and her husband, Dubai based entrepreneur Asad Bashir in the backdrop of a religious song. Judge Shahbaz Khan who sentenced TV host Shaista Wahidi along with Veena Malik and Bashir for 26 years each also imposed 1.3 million Pakistani rupees as fine on the convicts and ordered authorities to sell off properties to raise fine if the accused donot pay the fine.
Judge directed authorities to arrest them immediately. The convicts are permitted to appeal in Gilgit Baltistan regional High Court. According to sources all the four are out of Pakistan. While Rahman is in UAE others ran away from Pakistan after receiving threats from militants.
