Director Venky Atluri, known for crafting emotional and impactful stories like Sir and the upcoming Lucky Baskhar, recently opened up about a lesser-known chapter in his filmmaking journey—his consistent efforts to collaborate with Naga Chaitanya.
In a candid interview, Venky reflected on his bond with the Akkineni family, which began with his second film Mr. Majnu, starring Akhil Akkineni. Though the film carried high expectations, it didn’t meet commercial expectations. Still, Venky has remained an admirer of the Akkineni clan, proudly calling himself a loyal fan.
Interestingly, he revealed that Naga Chaitanya has always been his first choice:
“For all five of my films, the first narration was always with Naga Chaitanya. But due to scheduling conflicts and various reasons, those collaborations never happened.”
This revelation underlines how much Venky values Chaitanya as an actor and collaborator. But things might finally be changing.
Venky recalled a recent conversation with Chaitanya where the actor smiled and said,
“We shouldn’t miss this time — we must collaborate for sure.”
This hopeful exchange has raised anticipation among Akkineni fans, suggesting that a long-overdue team-up might be on the horizon.
Venky also expressed optimism about Akhil Akkineni’s upcoming film Lenin, stating that he was impressed with the script and expects the film to do well.
Currently, Venky is busy directing a family-oriented drama with Tamil superstar Suriya, but his sincere desire to direct Naga Chaitanya has caught the attention of Telugu cinema lovers.
If things fall into place, a Venky Atluri–Naga Chaitanya collaboration could be one of the most anticipated and refreshing pairings in Telugu cinema.
