The holiday spirit was in full swing on Friday evening as Verona hosted its annual Hometown Holiday Kickoff. Families and residents gathered at Century School Park to enjoy a variety of winter-themed activities that brought the community together.
Attendees were treated to seasonal delights such as ice skating, steaming cups of hot cocoa, and trolley rides around the festively decorated park. The event also highlighted the charm of the community and the contributions of local businesses that make Verona a welcoming place.
Le Jordan, executive director of the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that the celebration aims to showcase the many free and family-friendly experiences available in the city.
A standout moment of the evening was the eagerly awaited arrival of Santa Claus, who delighted the crowd by arriving aboard a fire truck. “The people here are wonderful,” Santa said with a smile. “Verona truly feels like classic hometown America. The festivals are always fantastic.”
The festivities reached their peak when WMTV’s Kevin Corriveau joined Santa for a spirited 3-2-1 countdown, leading to the lighting of the community holiday tree and officially kicking off the festive season in Verona.
