
Renowned veteran actor and writer Rajesh, celebrated for his powerful character roles across Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu cinema, passed away on Thursday due to age-related ailments. He was 75 years old. Sources revealed that Rajesh complained of uneasiness and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
The news of his demise has deeply saddened the film fraternity, with several prominent personalities expressing their condolences. Tamil superstar Rajinikanth took to social media platform ‘X’ to mourn the loss of his close friend. “The news of the untimely death of my close friend, actor Rajesh, shocks me. It gives me immense pain. A wonderful man, may his soul rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family and friends,” Rajinikanth wrote.
Actress Radikaa Sarathkumar also expressed her grief, calling his passing “unexpected.” She added, “Shared so many movies together and had deep respect for his vast knowledge of cinema and life. He will be missed by family, friends, and the entire film fraternity. #RIP.”
Rajesh’s illustrious career spanned over five decades and more than 150 films. He rose to fame with memorable performances in critically acclaimed movies such as Thaneer Thaneer and Andha Ezhu Naatkal, leaving a lasting impact on audiences. His notable works also include Payanangal Mudivathillai, Sathya, Virumaandi, and Mahanadhi. His final film appearance was in Merry Christmas, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif.
Born on December 20, 1949, in Mannargudi, Rajesh Williams initially worked as a school teacher in Chennai before entering the film industry. He made his acting debut in Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974) and played his first lead role in Kanni Paruvathile (1979). Beyond acting, Rajesh was a writer, dubbing artist, and television serial actor. He also served as an executive committee member of the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Film Artistes Association).
Rajesh passed away at 8:15 am, and his funeral arrangements will be made once his daughter returns from the USA.
