Director Vetrimaaran and actor Simbu are teaming up for an exciting new film set in the Vada Chennai universe. While not a direct sequel, the project expands the world introduced in Vada Chennai, marking Vetrimaaran’s first venture into creating a cinematic universe.
Titled Arasan in Tamil, the film’s promo is set to release in theatres across Tamil Nadu on October 16, with plans to attach it to Diwali releases. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his first collaboration with both Simbu and Vetrimaaran.
The Telugu version, titled Samrajyam, will have its promo launched by Jr NTR on October 17, fueling speculation about a possible collaboration between NTR, Vetrimaaran, or Simbu. During Devara promotions in Chennai, NTR expressed interest in working with Vetrimaaran, even considering a Tamil film that could later be dubbed into Telugu. Vetrimaaran confirmed that discussions have taken place and plans for collaboration are in motion once current projects are completed.
Meanwhile, NTR is busy with Devara Part 2, currently in pre-production. While the sequel continues the story from Part 1, it will introduce new characters, and reports suggest that Simbu has been approached for a key role. If everything aligns, fans may soon witness either NTR teaming up with Vetrimaaran or sharing the screen with Simbu in Devara 2.
