Pragya Jaiswal on Success, Balakrishna, and Breaking Barriers
Pragya Jaiswal made her film debut in 2014 with the Tamil movie Virattu, followed by her Hindi and Telugu debuts with Kanche. While initial success eluded her, it was her collaboration with Nandamuri Balakrishna that proved to be a game-changer. Their partnership began with the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda and continued with Daaku Maharaj, solidifying Pragya’s position in the industry. Now, the duo is set to reunite for Akhanda 2, marking their third collaboration.
In a recent interview, Pragya reflected on her journey alongside Balakrishna and the overwhelming response to Daaku Maharaj, which was released on her birthday. “It has been an incredible start to the year for me. The love I’ve received for my role as Kaveri is truly special. People have even started calling me ‘Daku Maharani.’ Playing a pregnant woman fighting for her unborn child was a deeply emotional and fulfilling experience—it made me appreciate the strength of women even more.”
Speaking about Balakrishna, Pragya described him as an inspiring figure who exudes positivity. “When you think of Balakrishna, you think of energy and warmth. He is straightforward and treats everyone with equal respect. I’ve learned so much from him,” she shared. Addressing the age difference between them, Pragya dismissed it as irrelevant, emphasizing that what truly matters is the effort she puts into her characters. “Age is never a factor when selecting roles. What’s important is whether I can do justice to the character. After Akhanda was released, even I was surprised by how great we looked together on screen.”
Beyond her collaborations with Balakrishna, Pragya is also gearing up for Tyson Naidu, where she will star alongside Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, further expanding her filmography. With back-to-back successes, she is cementing her place as one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry.
