Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated film ‘Kingdom’, directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, has officially completed its shooting and is now in post-production. Backed by Sitara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas, the film is slated for release on July 31.
Sharing insights about the project, Vijay revealed that the collaboration with Gowtham was based purely on creative trust—well before a script was even finalized.
“Kingdom is a film where I picked the director before the script. I just wanted to work with him,” he said.
Known for his emotional storytelling in films like Jersey, this marks Gowtham Tinnanuri’s first film with Vijay. With Vijay eyeing a strong comeback after a few underwhelming releases, Kingdom is shaping up to be a pivotal release in his career.
Interestingly, Gowtham had pitched two stories to Vijay.
“The other script was good too, but it felt too similar to another film already in development. I know the team making that film, and even though we could’ve released ours first, it didn’t feel right or respectful,” Vijay explained.
Ultimately, Kingdom stood out not just for its originality but for its alignment with Vijay’s current creative instincts.
“It’s an action drama—something I’ve been wanting to explore—and it’s told in Gowtham’s signature style,” he added.
With expectations building, Kingdom is positioned to be a crucial film in Vijay Deverakonda’s journey, combining emotional depth with high-octane action.
