Vijay Deverakonda’s #VD14: Period Drama in the Making

Vijay Deverakonda has been eagerly waiting for a major hit, especially after his recent film Kingdom failed to impress audiences. Fans are naturally keeping a close eye on his upcoming projects in hopes of a strong comeback.

One of the most anticipated films is his collaboration with director Rahul Sankrityan. The duo previously delivered the hit Taxiwaala in 2018. Rahul later gained acclaim with Shyam Singha Roy starring Nani. After over three years of developing his next story, Rahul is now teaming up with Vijay for a new project, tentatively titled #VD14.

The film has officially begun shooting in Hyderabad and is being produced on a grand scale by Mythri Movie Makers. Set during the British rule in India between 1854 and 1878, Vijay will portray a rural character from Rayalaseema—a role unlike anything he has done before. The makers promise a gripping mix of strong emotions and intense action.

Rashmika Mandanna has been confirmed as the female lead, marking her third collaboration with Vijay after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. The technical team adds significant weight to the project: international cinematographer Éric Gautier (The Motorcycle Diaries, Into the Wild) is handling the camera, while acclaimed music directors Ajay-Atul (Sairat, Agneepath) are composing the score. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, known for his role in The Mummy, will play a pivotal role in the film.

The first schedule is taking place in Hyderabad, with subsequent shoots planned in the Rayalaseema region. For Vijay, #VD14 represents a crucial opportunity to deliver a career-defining performance, while Rahul Sankrityan aims to establish himself once again with a larger-than-life story.

With a star-studded cast, international crew, and a unique period backdrop, #VD14 is shaping up to be one of the most eagerly awaited Telugu films in the coming months.
