Tamil Nadu politics has taken a serious turn following the unfortunate Karur incident, bringing actor Vijay into the centre of both legal and political debate. While the CBI has intensified its investigation, the Congress has alleged that the BJP is misusing central agencies to exert pressure on Vijay and push him towards aligning with the NDA.
Amid this backdrop, Vijay appeared before the CBI on January 19 for the second time in the last few weeks. Officials questioned him again in connection with the stampede incident, as part of efforts to gather crucial details related to the case.
Meanwhile, reports from national media channels suggest that Vijay could be named as one of the accused in the chargesheet that the CBI is expected to file in the second week of February. Given that he has already been questioned twice, these reports have gained significant attention. It is being speculated that he may face charges related to culpable homicide, a serious allegation that carries major legal implications.
As part of the probe, the CBI is reportedly focusing on key aspects such as Vijay’s arrival at the venue nearly seven hours late, the steps he took—or failed to take—to control the massive crowd, and his decision to leave for Chennai immediately after the incident instead of staying back at the scene. These factors are said to be central to the agency’s investigation as it prepares the final chargesheet.
