Vijayasai Reddy Announces Retirement from Politics

Vijayasai Reddy, one of the most trusted leaders in YSR Congress and a close aide to YS Jagan, has announced his retirement from politics. He revealed that he will step down from political activities after January 25, marking his resignation from the Rajya Sabha.

In a heartfelt message, Vijayasai wrote, “I am quitting politics and will resign from my Rajya Sabha membership tomorrow, the 25th. I will not be joining any other political party. This decision is completely personal; there is no pressure, no outside influence, and it is not driven by a desire for another position, benefits, or financial gain.”

Reflecting on his decades-long association with the YSR Congress, Vijayasai expressed his gratitude to the YS family, saying, “I owe everything to the YS family, who have supported me for over four decades and across three generations. I will always be thankful to Jagan garu for giving me the chance to serve as a Rajya Sabha member twice, and to Bharatamma garu for elevating me to such a high position. I wish Jagan garu the very best.”

It is noteworthy that Vijayasai’s departure from the party comes at a time when Jagan is facing significant challenges, especially as the party navigates its role in the opposition.

In his message, Vijayasai also acknowledged his contributions to the party: “As the leader of the parliamentary party, the floor leader in the Rajya Sabha, and the national general secretary, I have worked tirelessly for the party and the state’s interests. I have bridged the gap between the center and the state. I am especially grateful to Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their encouragement, which provided me with the strength and recognition across the Telugu states.”

Vijayasai’s retirement marks the end of an era as he has been a key figure in the YSR Congress for decades, and his support was invaluable to the party’s leadership under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
