Vijayawada born Padmasree Warrior is in race for the CEO post at the world’s leading social media networking site, Twitter. Ever since the former CEO Dick Costolo resigned to his post a few months ago and it’s stocks slipping by 22%, Twitter’s search wing, Spencer Stuart, has been under pressure to narrow its search for the right CEO to replace Jack Dorsey, the interim CEO.

Born Padmasree Yellepeddi, Padmasree did her schooling in Vijayawada and pursued chemical engineering at IIT Delhi. Padmasree then moved to the US for her MS at Cornell University. Padmasree formerly worked as the Chief Technology & Strategy Officer at Cisco Systems and Motorola. In 2014, Forbes mentioned Padmasree Warrior as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world. In 2006, Fortune magazine listed her as one of the four rising stars in its Most Powerful Women.

Reports suggest that Padmasree has high chances of being chosen for the coveted post, thanks to her immense experience in consumer internet. Padmasree’s close competitor is CBS Interactive Inc’s Jim Lanzone. If chosen, Padmasree joins the elite list of Indians like Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai, who are CEOs at Microsoft and Google respectively.
