Virat’s short innings say he was not at his best!

The wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st century continues as the Run Machine lost his wicket in the first ODI against the West Indies on Sunday for less score. Despite looking in good touch, the former Indian skipper had failed to capitalise on the positive start he got.

Run Machine Virat Kohli who looked good by scoring two boundaries was dismissed the very next ball. The way Virat lost his wicket had not pleased the fans. Not just fans, a Cricketer-turned-Cricket analyst was also surprised with this and expressed his concerns.

While speaking with ESPNcricinfo after the match, Aakash Chopra expressed his reservations and said that he was surprised with the way Virat Kohli approached the match.

Cracking down the dismissal of Virat Kohli, Aakash Chopra opined that, Virat Kohli did not appear in the right frame of mind. However, the Cricket analyst had dubbed Virat Kohli as someone who understands the pitches better than others.

Drawing a comparison between the South Africa series and the match with West Indies, Aakash Chopra said, Virat had scored runs in South Africa and the new innings says that Virat Kohli did not look best. He was not there mentally, he said.

Aakash Chopra was surprised that Virat Kohli was dismissed by a bouncer despite him having the ability to understand the pitches and situations better. Calling Virat Kohli’s short innings surprising, Chopra raised a few reservations.

‘Even though the bounce was low, you could still trust it. Some balls were staying really low and hitting the bottom of the bat. So that four-ball innings was a surprising innings and it perhaps tells you that he’s not exactly in the right frame of mind because technically, you can’t fault a 4-ball inning,’ Aakash Chopra said.

Despite Virat Kohli losing his early wicket, the Men in Blue had managed to crush West Indies by six wickets. Having restricted the West Indies team to a mere 176, India chased down the same for a loss of four wickets. India took only 28 overs to chase the target. Rohit Sharma played captain innings with a stunning half-century. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was awarded Man of the Match for his four wickets.
