Indian cinema has witnessed several biopics on legendary film personalities, with Mahanati standing out as one of the finest ever made. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film beautifully captured the life of iconic actress Savitri and became a landmark in Telugu cinema.
Interestingly, the acclaimed director of Mahanati, Nag Ashwin, might now find himself as the inspiration for an upcoming film. According to a recent revelation by producer Naga Vamsi, his next project, starring Vishwak Sen and directed by KV Anudeep, is said to be loosely based on Ashwin’s life.
Naga Vamsi shared that the film revolves around a director who falls in love with and marries a producer’s daughter—an uncanny resemblance to the real-life story of Nag Ashwin. For those unaware, Ashwin made his directorial debut before meeting and eventually marrying Priyanka Dutt, the daughter of renowned producer Ashwini Dutt.
Adding another layer of connection, Anudeep and Ashwin share a long-standing friendship, having worked together on Jathi Ratnalu. The upcoming project, reportedly titled Funky, is said to be inspired by Ashwin’s journey and is expected to bring a fresh and entertaining narrative to the audience.
With Vishwak Sen in the lead and Anudeep’s signature humor-driven storytelling, this film is generating curiosity. It remains to be seen how closely the movie will mirror Nag Ashwin’s life and whether it will carry a biographical tone or take creative liberties.
