Share

Vivo has been generating buzz around its upcoming V50 smartphone, and with the launch of a dedicated microsite, anticipation for the device has intensified. The Chinese smartphone maker has officially confirmed several key details, highlighting the V50’s standout features in design, durability, camera technology, and performance. Here’s what we know so far about Vivo’s latest addition to the V series.

Aesthetic Excellence and Durability

The Vivo V series is known for its sleek design, and the V50 continues this tradition. Touted as India’s slimmest smartphone to house a 6000mAh battery, the V50 will be available in three stunning color options: Rose Red, Titanium Grey, and Starry Blue. Notably, the Starry Blue variant will debut India’s first 3D-star technology in a smartphone, adding a unique visual appeal.

Beyond aesthetics, the V50 is built for resilience, featuring IP68 & IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Additionally, Vivo has incorporated Schott Diamond Shield Glass for superior durability and drop protection. The device is expected to sport a quad-curved display, enhancing both aesthetics and ergonomics.

Advanced Camera Capabilities with ZEISS Partnership

Vivo has consistently prioritized camera technology in its V series, and the V50 is no exception. Retaining the ZEISS-branded optics introduced in the V40 series, the V50 is equipped with a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. On the front, a 50MP ZEISS-branded selfie camera ensures high-quality captures.

Portrait photography enthusiasts will benefit from 23mm, 35mm, and 50mm portrait options, alongside Vivo’s signature ‘Aura Light’ flash. Additionally, the V50 will feature Vivo’s proprietary color tuning for wedding portraits, tailored specifically for the Indian market.

Powerful Performance and Software Support

While Vivo has not officially disclosed the chipset powering the V50, reports suggest it could feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. The company has also claimed that the device will maintain smooth performance for up to five years, which may indicate four years of Android updates and five years of security patches.

AI-powered features such as Gemini, Circle to Search, AI transcription, and live call translation will be integrated into the V50, further enhancing user experience.

Expected Launch Date and Pricing

Although Vivo has not officially announced a launch date, industry speculation suggests a potential release on February 18, 2025. Pricing details remain unconfirmed, but the Vivo V50 is expected to be priced under ₹40,000, considering that its predecessor, the V40, launched at ₹34,999 in India.

No V50 Pro Variant at Launch

Unlike previous iterations of the V series, Vivo does not appear to be introducing a V50 Pro variant alongside the standard model. It remains to be seen whether a Pro model will be introduced later.

As excitement builds around the Vivo V50, its combination of cutting-edge design, ZEISS-enhanced camera technology, and AI-driven features positions it as a compelling choice in the premium mid-range smartphone segment. Stay tuned for more official updates as the launch approaches.
