Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had completed the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of both the Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam Metro Rail Projects. These DPRs will be handed over to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the presence of Union Urban Development Minister, Venkaiah Naidu tomorrow in Delhi.
DMRC had completed the DPR work well in advance. Both the projects are sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh during the state bifurcation with the complete funding of the Central government. After going through the DPRs, the state government will make necessary changes and send the final DPR to the Center.
And from then the onus is on the center to release funds in time and complete these projects. The recent union budget has paltry 5.32 Crore each allocations to each of these projects. The finance ministry confirmed that they will make more allocations after the DPRs are submitted.
