Yash Raj Films (YRF) is going all-out for the highly anticipated action thriller WAR 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, by overseeing the film’s entire global release strategy. The film is slated for a grand worldwide release on August 14, just ahead of India’s Independence Day weekend.
WAR 2 marks Jr NTR’s much-awaited debut in Hindi cinema and is the sixth installment in YRF’s blockbuster Spy Universe, following hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film promises an explosive on-screen pairing of two of Indian cinema’s most dynamic stars—Hrithik and NTR.
Despite immense interest from leading Telugu production houses eager to bag the theatrical rights in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, YRF has decided to retain complete control over the film’s release across all territories, including the Telugu states, rest of South India, North India, and international markets. This strategic move underscores YRF’s confidence in the film’s pan-India and global appeal.
The shoot of WAR 2 is nearly wrapped up, with just one major sequence left to film—a high-energy dance face-off between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. This segment was briefly delayed due to a knee injury Hrithik sustained during rehearsals, but production is expected to conclude shortly.
The Independence Day weekend is set for a monumental box office clash, as WAR 2 will go head-to-head with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which also releases on August 14. With two major star-driven films hitting screens simultaneously, audiences can expect an electrifying cinematic showdown.
