When Jagan’s camp approached the TDP and Speaker’s office regarding a compromise over the suspension of YSRCP MLA’s, one TDP MLA told Chandrababu, “Let us not agree to the compromise. This is an excellent opportunity to teach them a good lesson. If we mete out strong punishment now, it will send out a great message.
YSR would not have let go of such an opportunity. Was he not completely unforgiving in his attitude towards us?” This perception by the TDP is not entirely correct. There were occasions when the TDP benefitted from the largesse of YSR. The ‘shooting episode’ in Balakrishna’s house is a good example.
Daggubati Venkateswara Rao in his book ‘Oka Charitra Konni Nijalu’ revealed that YSR behaved in a gentlemanly fashion during that time and did not interfere with the investigation or put any pressure on the TDP at that time. Of course, many people in the State still speculate as to the findings of the investigation which cleared Balayya’s name in that incident.
One rumor that did the rounds then was that YS Jagan, allegedly a hard core admirer of Balayya saw to it that the latter was not compromised by the findings of the investigation.
