Water War Between AP & Telangana Resumes

The immortal water war between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh resumed on Wednesday when the former stopped the release of Krishna River water to the latter.

On Wednesday, the irrigation officials from AP and Telangana had a verbal war at Nagarjuna Sagar over sharing of Krishna water. The feud was triggered when the Telangana officials stopped the release of water to the the right canal of the dam which flows into AP.

In their defense, Telangana irrigation officials said they had stopped the water after the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) issued a letter to them stating that AP had exceeded its quota of water. They accused the truncated state of drawing more than its share of water.

AP irrigation officials on the other hand claimed they had actually received less than the allocated quota of water and demanded the immediate release of water.

To reinforce their power during the verbal war at Sagar, the officials from the two states summoned police personnel from Nalgonda (Telangana) and Guntur (AP) respectively. They have lodged complaints on each other by the end of the day, and the deadlock hasn’t been resolved yet.
