Popular Malayalam actress Shweta Menon has found herself at the center of a legal controversy after a public activist, Martin Menachery, filed a complaint alleging that she distributed obscene content online for financial gain. Acting on the complaint, the Ernakulam CJM Court has directed the police to initiate appropriate action.

Following the directive, a case has reportedly been registered under Section 67(a) of the IT Act, along with provisions of the Prevention of Obscenity Act. According to the FIR, Shweta is accused of voluntarily participating in films and advertisements—including a condom commercial—that allegedly featured nudity, with claims that her involvement was motivated by monetary benefits.

Some of Shweta Menon’s notable works mentioned in the complaint include her performances in Rathinirvedam, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha, and Kalimannu—films known for their bold and intense storytelling. She rose to widespread fame with the critically acclaimed film Salt N’ Pepper and has remained a prominent face in Malayalam cinema. Shweta also appeared in Bigg Boss Malayalam in 2018, further boosting her public profile.

Interestingly, this legal development comes at a crucial time for Shweta, as she is reportedly one of the leading contenders for the president post of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
