First ever NSA-level meeting scheduled on Sunday was cancelled at the last minute due to differences over Pakistan’s National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz’s planned meeting with separatist leaders and his intention to discuss Kashmir.
India’s spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs Vikas Swarup on Sunday Tweeted: “Pakistan’s decision is unfortunate. India did not set any preconditions. We only reiterated that Pakistan respect the spirit of the Simla & Ufa Agreements to which it was already committed.”
On the other hand, Sartaj Aziz said on Monday that Pakistan was not responsible for the cancellation of the NSA-level talks. “After taking charge as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi considers India as a regional power, forgetting that Pakistan is nuclear power. If Kashmir is not an issue then why India has stationed 700,000 troops there.
The international community believes that Kashmir is a problem between the two countries which should be resolved. Pakistan would not run from talks on terrorism as Pakistan also has evidence of RAW’s involvement in Pakistan.” Mr Aziz was quoted as saying by a Pakistan daily Dawn.
Indian security agencies have documentary evidence, which proves that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is living in Pakistan. These proofs were about to be presented before Sartaj Aziz, if the meeting wasn’t abandoned.
