Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal recently sparked widespread curiosity after appearing on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast on January 3, 2026, with an unfamiliar device attached to his temple. The unusual gadget quickly became a talking point across social media, with many viewers speculating whether it was a futuristic health wearable.
The device was later revealed to be “Temple,” an experimental health-tech wearable currently under development by companies linked to Goyal, including Zomato’s parent entity, Eternal. While still in the testing phase and not available for consumer use, the wearable has already generated significant buzz for its ambitious goals.
According to Goyal, Temple is designed to monitor cerebral blood flow and brain activity in real time, offering deeper insights into brain health. Reports suggest the device uses advanced sensors and artificial intelligence to collect and analyse brain circulation data. This information could help researchers and medical professionals better understand cognitive behaviour, stress levels, mental fatigue, and focus.
Temple is closely tied to Goyal’s Gravity Ageing Hypothesis, a theory that proposes gravity as a silent contributor to human ageing. The hypothesis suggests that because humans spend most of their lives standing or sitting upright, blood flow to the brain is subtly restricted over time, potentially accelerating ageing across the body.
To explore this theory, Goyal has reportedly invested over $25 million (approximately ₹225 crore) into long-term research and development. Temple is expected to play a key role in validating this hypothesis by offering continuous data on how the brain functions under gravitational stress.
While Goyal has teased the wearable on social media, he has clarified that Temple remains an experimental research device. Still, its public appearance has reignited discussions around whether “brain blood flow” could emerge as a key health metric in the future, much like heart rate or sleep tracking today.
