Deepika Padukone Exits Kalki 2898 AD Sequel, Tripti Dimri to Replace Her
Deepika Padukone will no longer be part of the highly anticipated sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, Vyjayanthi Movies officially confirmed. The production house took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce:
“This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. A film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
The news has sparked widespread speculation in the film industry. Some suggest that Deepika’s recent controversies, such as the issues surrounding Team Spirit, may have contributed, though industry insiders believe this is unlikely. Vyjayanthi Movies, with its legacy, is not known to make hasty decisions based on ego or external pressures.
Other reports indicate that differences over commitment and demands may have led to the split. It is believed that Deepika requested shorter call sheet durations and specific arrangements for her staff, which caused friction with director Sandeep Vanga. These issues reportedly delayed discussions and the production schedule of the sequel. As a result, Tripti Dimri has been roped in to replace her.
While this development might affect Deepika’s image in the pan-India market, her team is working to manage the narrative. On the professional front, she is currently focused on King and the Allu Arjun-Atlee project, with no other confirmed commitments at present.
The Prabhas-Deepika pairing, which was much loved in the first part, will now see a new face in the sequel, and fans are keenly awaiting how this change will impact the film’s dynamics.
