WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will enable users to link their Instagram profiles directly to their WhatsApp accounts. The feature, first identified by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 25.7.10.70, is currently being tested among a limited group of beta users.
Feature Overview
Once implemented, the integration will allow users to display their Instagram profile links beneath their WhatsApp profile picture and name. This enhancement aims to streamline connectivity across Meta’s platforms, making it easier for contacts to find and engage with users across multiple social networks.
Privacy Controls
WhatsApp will provide users with full control over who can view their linked Instagram profiles. The privacy settings will align with the platform’s existing options, including:
Everyone – Visible to all WhatsApp users.
My Contacts – Visible only to users saved in the contact list.
My Contacts Except… – Allows selective exclusion of specific contacts.
Nobody – Keeps the linked Instagram profile private.
Future Expansion Possibilities
At present, Instagram is the only supported platform. However, speculation suggests that WhatsApp may extend this functionality to other Meta-owned platforms such as Facebook and Threads in future updates.
Availability and Beta Testing
The feature is currently accessible exclusively to select beta testers via Apple’s TestFlight program. WABetaInfo indicates that further testing and refinements are underway, with potential expansions to more beta testers in the coming weeks. A similar integration was previously available in preview mode for WhatsApp on iOS but was not widely released.
WhatsApp Business users have long had the option to manually link their Instagram profiles through a separate authentication process. However, this new development would simplify the integration for general WhatsApp users.
Expected Rollout
As of now, WhatsApp has not officially confirmed when the feature will be made available to all iOS users or whether it will be introduced on Android devices. Given the testing phase, it is expected that WhatsApp will refine the functionality before rolling out a broader release.
This update marks another step in Meta’s ongoing efforts to enhance cross-platform integration and streamline user experiences across its ecosystem of services.
