Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi, who is currently enjoying the success of Dhurandhar 2, recently addressed a controversy that emerged during the film’s trailer launch.

Bedi, who played the role of Jameel Jamali in the film, faced trolling after a brief on-stage moment with co-star Sara Arjun went viral. A clip circulating online led some users to claim that the 71-year-old actor had kissed the shoulder of the 20-year-old actress, sparking criticism on social media.

In Dhurandhar 2, Bedi portrays a seasoned politician, while Sara Arjun plays his daughter, Yalina Jamali. Responding to the controversy in a podcast, Bedi clarified that the moment was misunderstood. He explained that he shares a warm, fatherly bond with Sara and often treated her like his own daughter during the shoot.

According to him, gestures like hugging or giving a forehead kiss were purely affectionate and part of a senior actor’s responsibility to make younger co-stars feel comfortable. He added that a similar gesture during the trailer launch was misinterpreted after the clip went viral.

Bedi also mentioned that many people from the industry and audience later came out in his support, stating that such allegations did not reflect his personality.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2, released on March 19, continues its strong box office run, reportedly crossing the ₹800 crore mark within just five days.
