After scoring a string of hits by playing middle-class boy’s roles for the last few years, Nani seems to be yearning for mass image of late. Nani tried out a mass role to in a small way with Middle Class Abbayi (MCA) last year. But this time, he took his craving to the next level with Krishnarjuna Yuddham.
Krishnarjuna Yuddham’s entire second half seems to be Nani’s showreel to gain mass image. The second half runs on an action mode throughout and it disappointed the Natural Star’s loyal fans. Due to a low pre-release buzz, Krishnarjuna Yuddham’s openings were quite average and shockingly 60 percent less than MCA.
With the average to poor word of mouth, Krishnarjuna Yuddham has already lost the steam at the box office. Irrespective of the talk, some of Nani’s movies went on to collect huge at the US box office in the past. But same is not the case with Krishnarjuna Yuddham. US buyers have spent a bomb on the movie, considering Nani’s hat-trick USD 1M plus movies in 2017.
With Nani’s unsuccessful attempt to enter the mass zone, he is unknowingly making his weaknesses in terms of his box office potential public. It remains to be seen if Nani will learn from this experience and be more cautious in choosing scripts for his future movies.
